Our former President SAFVL, the late COL(RET) John Morrice was conferred the title of 'Honorary President' at a special ceremony of the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam on 7 October 2016.

Receiving the title for his late father is eldest son Mr Andrew John Morrice.

The late COL Morrice was also awarded the VECONAC Medal of Honour.

A visibly pleased Mr Morrice said: "Our family is deeply honoured by these awards to my father. And I am especially overwhelmed to be able to represent him here in Brunei Darussalam to receive both awards and to meet so many of his veteran comrades."

Mr Andrew John Morrice said that COL John Morrice had always given his full attention to every task assigned to him. "No task was too small for him. And he always put country before self regardless of his failing health." He added: "Our family would like to thank the SAFVL and VECONAC for their acknowledgement of my father's contributions to both organisations. My mom Stella Morrice is especially proud of my father's accomplishments and the recognition bestowed on him. She says it is recognition she can always share with and pass on to the grandchildren."
