SAFVL visitors with their Malaysian hosts. PVATM President Tan Sri Anwar (in jockey cap, second row) is on BG (Ret) Winston Toh’s left.

Nine SAFVL MC members, some with their spouses and family members travelled in a convoy of four cars to Jementah, Johor in Malaysia on 21 July 2018 to savour the King of Fruits, a durian feast hosted by the Persatuan Veteran Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (PVATM) (Veterans Association of Malaysian Armed Forces).

Jementah on the outskirts of Segamat District, is famous for its durians in Malaysia.

The SAFVL party led by president BG (Ret) Winston Toh was met on arrival by PVATM President, Hon. Sen. Adm. Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Hj Mohd Nor (Ret).

The visitors were immediately taken to see the low-hanging fruits of the durian trees. They also picked durians that had fallen around the trees while also cautiously avoiding the drop-zones of durians still hanging precariously overhead!

We were hosted to a scrumptious lunch which included rambutans, mangosteens, dukun and durian ice cream of course.

The durian farm belongs to a PVATM member who also offers homestay on the property for visitors.

In their parting remarks at the end of the visit, both presidents acknowledged and reiterated the strong ties between the two veteran organizations at their personal and organisational levels.

The visit is part of an ongoing programme of visits initiated by PVATM in 2016 to maintain the strong bilateral ties between PVATM and SAFVL under the VECONAC Interaction Programme.
