Ten SAFVL Management Committee members including the President, BG (NS) Winston Toh joined other guests on 24th November 2016 at the official opening of SAFRA’s latest clubhouse. The SAFRA Punggol clubhouse at Sentul Crescent was officially opened by Guest of Honour Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security.
Among the VIPs who graced the occasion were Chairman of SAFRA Board of Governors, Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen, President of SAFRA Management Committee and Second Minister of State for Defence, Mr Ong Ye Kung and Deputy President of SAFRA, and Senior Minister of State for Defence, Dr Maliki Osman. Mr Phua Bah Lee, former Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Defence and President of SAFRA was also present.
True to the clubhouse tagline “Where Fun Flows”, the water theme was seen and felt throughout the night, from the opening ceremony to the violinist playing in a ‘bubble&rsquo, the Punggol Sling and stemmed glasses as gifts for guests.
The five-storey SAFRA Punggol, which cost S$64.4 million to develop, is a one-minute walk from Sam Kee LRT station and a six-minute walk from Punggol MRT. It serves some 80,000 NSmen and their families living in the North-East region of Singapore.
