The Singapore Armed Forces Veterans League (SAFVL), a branch under the Singapore Armed Forces Reservists' Association (SAFRA), was started in 1990 to foster and maintain the spirit of camaraderie among ex-regulars.

All ex-regulars who are 40 years of age and above and have served in the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF)  or SAF for at least six continuous years are eligible for Ordinary membership.

Membership to the League is voluntary. Its 500 members today were mostly from the Army, Navy and Air Force.

The League holds regular get-together sessions and activities for its members. And it is through such regular meetings that the SAFVL provides a common platform for members to continue to come together to meet and interact.

Many SAFVL members also attend events organized by the SAF and this helps to promote greater cohesion, particularly the partnership between its members and their counterparts in the SAF.

From its inception, the SAFVL has played an active role in National Education. SAFVL veterans frequently share their experiences with the younger generation. And by telling younger Singaporeans about the past, the veteran members hope to help them appreciate the presence to see the future.

In 2000, the SAFVL took a major step when it joined the world’s veterans community by becoming a member of the World Veterans Federation (WVF). This was followed in 2008 when SAFVL became a member of the Veteran Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC). Since then, the SAFVL has actively participated in events of both organizations at the regional and international levels.

President SAFVL is Brigadier-General (NS) Winston Toh who heads a management committee that runs the affairs of the SAFVL. It holds its meetings and gatherings mostly at the SAFRA Toa Payoh clubhouse where it also has an office and a lounge where members meet socially.

The SAFVL celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015.
